I am a painty illustrator, children's writer, post-grad student and mother. I live in Napier, New Zealand with my partner and our two year old son.
My imagination has been profoundly influenced by Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland and moving to Oxford from New Zealand as a young girl enhanced this tenfold. I like all things bad taste ...the macabre and the shuddersome dance with kittens in the place from whence I came. Increasingly though, I am interested in painting for nursery décor - walls, furniture, toys and anything else my paint will stick to. Because of this, Dr Jekyll might well consume Mr Hyde with the doom aspect of my work eventually giving way to jungle beasts and fluffy things.
I hold a BA (Hons) in Art History and Theory, and I am currently working on a PhD thesis in the same field. I have experience in freelance art and children's writing, reviewing, commission-based painting as well as the general sales of private works ...one piece even made the cut as album art (see blog). Please feel free to contact me for customised work.
