An allegory for fatigue in denial.

$1,200.00Price

Art history is full of noble allegories of extreme states; victory, death, war and knowledge, but I always felt more drawn to the everyday parables ~ Dürer's 'Melencolia' (1514) or Breghel's 'The Five Senses' (1612-18).

Here we are witness to the victory of stasis over the perpetual thrust of progress. The detached state of everyday fatigue is finally accepted and allowed to flourish upon the forms of the would-be wakeful.

Acrylics on board.

60 x 120cm.
