One of the most appealing things about 'folk art' (to use the term as broadly as possible) is that it is a bottom-up construction. It is 'of the people,' so to speak, unlike academic art or the now institutionalised processes of art-making.
Culture lives in our everyday habits and it is our solemn duty to pass knowledge on to our children. However, as the veneration of wonder cannot always be adequately explained, demonstrations by the cauldron are recommended.
